Restoring a way of living at Aswarby Rectory
When Donna and her family first discovered Aswarby Rectory and the neighbouring Coach House in Lincolnshire, it was a building in need of extensive restoration but full of character, history and potential. Drawn to its simplicity, scale and setting, they quickly fell in love, making the bold decision to completely reshape their lives in order to bring it back to life.
What followed was a hands-on and deeply personal journey. With little experience and limited resources, they stripped the house back to its bare bones, rebuilding, restoring and reimagining each space while living onsite in a small caravan with their young family. Every decision was guided by a clear vision, a pared back approach to interiors, creating something simple, thoughtful and authentic, where people could come together in a way that felt natural and unforced.
Today, the Rectory has evolved into a setting for gatherings and weddings, where its pared back interiors and architectural details create a beautiful backdrop for hosting. Alongside this, the Coach House, now their family home, offers a more intimate reflection of that journey, a space shaped by everyday life, where comfort, simplicity and personal meaning sit at its core.
It was a pleasure to spend time here during our SS26 photoshoot, and in this feature, we take a closer look at Donna’s home, her renovation journey and the story behind it all.
We hope you’ve enjoyed reading about Donna and her family’s restoration journey. Athoughtful and inspiring approach to creating a home that truly reflects the way they live.
