The Norfolk Collection

Inspired By A Place I Return To
If you’ve followed The Interiors Yard for a while, you’ll probably know how much inspiration I take from the places I visit. North Norfolk is one of those places that has stayed with me and has become really special to me and my family.
Over the past few years, we’ve found ourselves returning again and again, in every season and for some very special occasions along the way. We’ve celebrated my sister’s 40th there and my dad’s 70th, hired beach huts for the day and spent countless hours walking the beaches.
We’ve slowly found our favourite corners too, in particular Thornham, Holkham, Brancaster and Wells. I love the vast beaches, salt marshes, little coastal villages, grasses along the shoreline and, of course, the beautiful flint cottages that seem to be everywhere you look. And then there are the places that have become part of our trips. A coffee at Stiffkey Stores or The White Horse Bakery, those little places you discover, love and then make a point of going back to. I rarely come home empty handed either. In fact, as I sit in my living room writing this, some of the grasses and seed heads I’ve foraged on our walks are right here with me. I’ve always loved bringing a little piece of a place home, whether that’s something found on a walk, a photograph or simply an idea I want to remember.
I suppose it was inevitable that some of Norfolk would eventually find its way into The Interiors Yard too. Over time, I began to realise just how much the colours, textures and landscape were influencing the pieces I was drawn to. The sand, stone, grasses, salt marshes and flint had all somehow stayed with me.
And that became the starting point for The Norfolk Collection.
Shaped by Norfolk
I never wanted the collection to be a literal interpretation of the coast. It was more about taking the colours, textures and little details I’d noticed on our trips and bringing them into pieces that would feel at home in everyday interiors.
The earthy palette came naturally from the landscape. The sand, stone, salt marshes, grasses and those wonderful pieces of flint that are so characteristic of this part of the country.
From there, the collection began to take shape.
Hand turned pottery in earthy tones sits alongside textured cushions and hand woven baskets made from natural banana leaf. I wanted the different materials and finishes to sit naturally together without everything having to match.
The pottery includes Cove Mugs and Tea Bowls, little Pinch Pots and Berry Bowls, Herb Sticks and Match Strikers, alongside larger platters with shapes and edges inspired by shells found along the shoreline.
The cushions bring another layer of texture, while the natural banana leaf baskets are hand woven by skilled artisans in Indonesia using traditional techniques.
One of the things I love most is that each piece has its own character. The pottery is hand turned, so no two pieces are completely identical, and the woven baskets have all those lovely little variations you would expect from something made by hand.
For me, that’s all part of their charm. I love the idea that you might begin with a mug or a bowl and gradually add another piece. Mixing the different earthy tones with pottery you already own and, most importantly, actually using them rather than saving them for best. I wanted these pieces to become part of your home rather than simply part of a collection.
And I think that’s what connects them most closely to Norfolk for me. Natural materials, pieces made by hand and those little details you notice and remember long after you’ve returned home.
The Norfolk Collection is inspired by somewhere my family and I love to return to, and I hope these are pieces you’ll love living with for many years to come.
